Most jobs are quoted from the actual engine, trailer or equipment involved. The prices below are a guide for common work, not a promise that every job will cost exactly the starting price.

🔧 Grease & Oil Service Inspection — From $149*

Not sure what your outboard needs? Start here.

Ideal if you have recently bought a boat, don't know when the motor was last serviced, or simply want to know where your outboard stands.

Includes new gearbox/lower-unit oil, greasing of applicable lubrication points, joints and linkages, and a practical check of the engine and major systems. You'll receive a written report outlining what we find and any recommendations.

🟢 Good — no action required   🟠 Recommended — maintenance or monitoring advised   🔴 Needs attention — repair or replacement recommended.

The goal isn't to sell you a bigger service. It's to find out what your outboard actually needs.

Save on labour: If you have an outboard 30HP or smaller, we encourage you to bring the motor to our workshop location where practical. Having the outboard already removed from the boat can save you removal and refitting labour. BOS cannot store complete vessels, but outboards and smaller components can be accommodated.

Carburettor service

Service kit is model dependant, typically $30–$90 per carb, charged separately. Includes carburettor removal, ultrasonic cleaning, inspection, reassembly and adjustment where applicable. Additional parts for worn or damaged components are quoted before fitting.From $99*
Compression test
Compression check across applicable cylinders to help identify potential internal engine issues. Results are reported to the customer.From $50*
Diagnosis / fault finding
Practical fault finding to identify the cause of a starting, running, charging or other engine problem. Repair work and parts are quoted separately.From $80*
Fuel-system Service & Inspection
Inspection of fuel lines, filters, connections and accessible fuel-system components, with recommendations provided. Replacement parts are additional unless otherwise stated.From $80*
Impeller / water pump — supply & fit
Replacement impeller supplied and fitted. Complete water-pump kits, damaged components or additional cooling-system repairs may incur extra cost.From $199*
Gearbox / lower-unit oil

Replacement of a main positive or negative battery cable using tinned marine-grade cable, including terminals and fitting. Longer cable runs, larger cable sizes, additional terminals, battery switches, circuit protection or more complex routing may incur additional costs.From $149*

Why “from” pricing?

Because a single-carb 15HP and a four-carb 115HP are not the same bloody job.

Rather than hiding behind a one-size-fits-all price, BOS gives you a starting point and then confirms the actual job once we know what we're working on.

Send the engine make, horsepower, model/year, what it's doing and a few photos. That gives us a much better chance of giving you a useful initial estimate.
